It is time for another.....

Shining the Light Challenge,YEAH!!! Are you ready?

This week the challenge team is challenging you to use stars and/or stripes on your creation. Since Memorial Day is coming up, we thought this may be fun. Please note that your card or project can be patriotic, but it does not have to be.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize , a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Thursday, June 3. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday. While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if yo u have them.As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing 1 to 2 creations to spotlight for our Shining the Light Award. In order to qualify for this award, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by June 3 at 8 p.m. EST.If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC15. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.
All of these instructions are also available on the ODBD Blog

So, are you ready for my creations...yep, I made two as I could not decide what to do...I made one with stars and one with stripes.

Dad

Recipe:

Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU Buckaroo Blue, SU So Safron, DP from stash, dark blue, burgundy and hunter green cs from my stash for the stars

Stamps: ODBD Dad

Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink Tea Dye, VersaFine OnyxBlack

Accessories: Nesties Large Deckled Rectangles, Stars cut with my Cricut Expression and the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, Tim Holtz Distressing Tool

To give the DP a little more interest I crumbled it up straightened it out and rubbed the TH Distressing Ink in Tea Dye over it. It was still too wrinkled so I ironed it from the back side just a little and achieved the look I was going for. The stars are cut with my Cricut Expression in 2 different sizes and distressed a little on the edges. The word dad is also stamped on a star cut just bog enough to fit the entire word (to be honest I first had it on a rectangle strip, but changed my mind as I went to use a star...I think it works better ;D. What do you think?

All right on to number 2...this one is a bit more feminine

Do not be anxious

Recipe:
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU Certainly Celery, rust colored cs from my stash and also from my stash this striped DP (I bought this years ago from Joann.com it was in one of those file folder kind of thingies with all kinds of different papers in it.

Stamps: ODBD Scripture Collection 4

Ink: Tim Holtz Distressing Ink Vintage Photo and Shabby Shutters

Accessories: Wrights Cluny lace, Prima Flowers, Martha Stewart Monarch butterfly punch, tiny buttons from Buttons Galore and more, Nesties Petite Scalloped Ovals Large, Petite Ovals Large, Zva Creative Topaz rhinestone flourish

So, what do you think about these 2 cards? Was I able to inspire you all a little? If you need some more inspiration check out my design sisters blogs and what they have come up with...breathtaking, let me tell you

Very nice cards! I like how the stars is more masculine! The distressing is so nice and I am loving the star you created for "DAD" with the inked edges!! The second card is so pretty! I am loving the bling! The butterfly is so sweet and I adore the button centers for the flowers! My favorite parts are the scriptures!!! Happy Memorial Day!

Sabrina these are wonderful.. I really like your sponging on the first one. Every time I try to do that with TH ink it looks terrible. Yours is just right. Great job on both of them.. Thank you so much for the message you left on my blog. I cannot even imagine being a military wife. It must really be difficult. I admire you and appreciate all that your husband did. Without wonderful men and women like him we would not be the country we are today..Huge hugs.
