Hello on this wonderful Saturday morning.....

and WELCOME to another ODBD Shining the Light Challenge!!! This week we've decided to do thinga a little different and make a card or project that is outside the box!!! No A2 or rectangular card. You can create a different shape card...like square ;D or a different fold (there are a bunch of different folds in the Resource section of Splitcoaststampers) think shadowbox, pocket card, easel card slider card to name a few. The sky is the limit and we'd love to see them all.

You know already, if you have played the last three weekends, that we are making these challenges fun by giving out a prize, a $ 15 gift certificate that can be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs Store If you are interested in this prize you must submit your entry by Thursday, March 4th 2010.

One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday. While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them ;D.

As a way of recognizing those who do use ODBD stamps, we will again be choosing 1 to 2 creations to spotlight for the ODBD Shining the Light Award. But in order to qualify for this award, you MUST use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Thursday, March 4th 2010 at 8 p.m.EST!!!!!

If you upload your creation to Splitcoaststampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC4. When you post your creations on your blog please include a LINK to this challenge.

Are you curious about what I came up with this week? I was thinking hard and decided to make a square card, a 5.5x5.5" card and add a little something different :D:D. have you seen those chipboard books at your local craft stores? They are only about $1 and they have like 5-6 pages. They have all kinds of different shapes and one I had picked up a while back was a house shape. Since I wanted to use one of the February stamps "Nest" I knew this would be perfect. Where does the different fold come in, you might ask? Well, the different fold is the square card for one, but I am also using a technique called "Folded Paper Frame". So, I made my square card, added some Basic Grey Origins DP to the chipboard shape. glued 2 pieces of the Origins DP together (Basic Grey paper pads are not double sided and the paper should be double sided for the folded paper frame ;D) ,added my colored in and cut out NEST and decorated my card. To make it look a little more like a birdhouse per say, I added a Maya Road chipboard bird which I sprayed with Glimmer Mist and added a Recollections golden half pearl for an eye, all birds need eyes, right? :D:D. Have a look for yourself

From our nest to yours

Recipe:
Paper: SU Chocolate Chip, PTI Rustic Cream, Basic Grey Origins

Stamps: ODBD Nest

Ink: Color Box Chalk Toffee, S.e.i. chalk ink Clover, Chalk Box Yellow Cadmuim

Accessories: Nesties Classic Scallop Square Large, Maya Road Flourish and bird, Maya Mist in Avocado (flourish) Glimmer Mist Autumn Leaves (bird), Recollections golden half pearls, Dew Drops in Pearl Lettuce, chipboard house album page (Michael's), Tim Holtz Distressing Tool, Prima flowers

So, what do you think? Doesn't this frame look like the little birdhouse is open and you can just reach in for that nest? I had tons of fun creating this card and I hope that I was able to inspire you a little so you can get your ODBD stamps out and get to playing along with us. Remember you can win a $15 gift certificate!!!

Before you leave make sure you head on over to the rest of the gals from the Challenge Team

America Chris (our CT coordinator) Christine Fran Natalie and Patter

And after you done getting all of that inspiration in you make sure you head on over to the ODBD Blog to add your wonderful creation to Mr. Linky ;D.

This is it for me, I'll have a Prayer Tea to go to from noon until 2 p.m..

Thanks so much for stopping by today and making my day. I love all of your wonderful comments as they truly bless me!!!

It's Thursday.....

already? WOW, this week sure has been flying by. Yesterday afternoon I had a moment...yep a moment where one of the brothers at church came to mind and what a hard time he is going through right now. I decided to leave my clothes in the dryer for a minute and get a card whipped up to show him that my family cares, so this little humble card came about. It is nothing fancy as I wanted to keep it clean ;D.

Have a look and please let me know what you think.

Let us lift up........

Recipe:
Paper: SU Chocolate Chip, Confetti White, K&Company Designer Mat Pad Roam

Stamps: ODBD Lift up our hands

Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo

Accessories: Nesties Deckled Rectangles, pearl lettuce Dew Drops, May Arts Twill ribbon in a sand color, stitched grosgrain ribbon from Michael's , mini antique copper eyelets, antique copper belt buckle, foam tape

What do you think...does this card qualify as masculine? I did some distress sponging on the Confetti White panel to blend it a little more with the distressing that is on the DP.

This is is for me for right now. Thanks so much for stopping by and making my day. I love comments and read each and every one of them. I still have the moderate/approval button on as there are still people out there that try to put "bad" web-links on my blog.

Oh, thanks for the well wishes for my DD....she is feeling much better and today was actually the first day her eyes were clear when she woke up. That poor thing is full of antibiotics and other medicine, but I am thankful that the medicine kicked in and got my baby feeling better :D.

Have a fabulous day.

Hello.....

stamping friends!! Hope you all are doing well. My little one is still not all the way back to normal and I tell ya...it breaks a mother's heart if she has to see her baby in pain. Anyhow, I have a card to share with you all today I made over the weekend.

It is yet another 5.5x5.5" card. I just love this size ;D.

For my card I used the absolutely yummy DP from SU called Parisian Breeze. I think I was one of the last people getting it ;D, and guess what......I bought 2 packages. I have been hoarding it for quite some time and only pulled it out the other day because I had this idea in my head. Yeah, sometimes I do have ideas floating around in my head and this one came together with a flower that I made using my Cricut Expression. I simply cut a flower from the Accent Essentials cartridge in 3 different sizes (6 layers all together) and scrunched them up and secured them with a tiny brad (you really don't see it, so it does not have to be a big one ;D). Since I made the flower in brown. for no specific reason, just happened to have some cs that is not too heavy laying around in brown, so I used it. For my sentiment I used one of my all time favorite stamps by Our Daily Bread Designs called "Get Well" . The Mayo Road Vintage Pearl Pin was colored with my copic markers to somewhat match the card.

Have a look

Praying you'll soon be well

Recipe:

Paper: SU Confetti White, SU Soft Sky, SU Close to Cocoa, SU DP Parisian Breeze

Stamps: ODBD Get Well

Ink: SU Close to Cocoa

Accessories: Nesties Labels 5, Toffee colored stain ribbon, Amber Rhinestones, Recollections golden half pearls, Cricut Expression Accent Essentials cartridge to cut out the solid flower (6 layers all together) 2 in each size, 1.5", 1,75" and 2". Foam tape, 3D glue dot to secure the flower

See, just had to get that DP out. Doesn't it go well with my brown flower. I know there are no brown flowers like that, but it sure looks yummy,LOL!

Well, this is it for me for right now. I'll have to run and pick up my oldest from school. Thanks so much for stopping by today. Love your comments...they keep me going.

Good morning and "Welcome"....

to ISC's February release day!!!! Yep, today is the day that you can finally buy these wonderful new stamps Betsy has been coming up with. Since times are hard for everyone, Betsy, the sweet person she is, has decided to do half sheets to make it easier for people to buy some of these wonderful stamps. For those that don't know about ISC , ISC stamps are deeply etched red rubber stamps that are not cushioned, but let me tell ya, if you cut your stamps and use some Alene's Tack it over and over on it and let it dry and simply use an acrylic block you will not have a problem. So, that is it for the tip ;D. Let me introduce the new sets to you

Eclectic Butterfly

Dandelion

Delicate Daisy

And here is what I came up with :D:D

Recipe:

Paper:PTI Rustic White, Crafty Secrets Earthy, Basic Grey Porcelain

Stamp: Eclectic Butterfly ISC, Netting ISC

Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa (sentiment and butterfly), SU Close to Cocoa (Netting), Chalk Box Yellow Cadmium, Blush Rose (distressing) SU Certainly Celery)

Accessories: Nesties Petite Oval large, Petite Scalloped Oval Large, Cuttlebug embossing folder Leaf Branch, Smooch in Molasses, Sunflower Mix Dew Drops, Primas

This is it for # 1!

The next one is done with the Dandelion stamp sheet

Recipe:

Paper: PTI Kraft, Dark Chocolate

Stamp: Dandelion ISC

Ink: Palette Vintage Cream (PTI color), Tim Holtz Distress Ink Tead Dye, VersaMark, white embossing powder, SU Close to Cocoa

Accessories: Classic Circles Large, Tim Holtz Distressing tool

For this card I simply stamped the frame image 3 times and cut it out to achieve the layered (3D) effect and distressed the edges ;D.

And last but not least another one done with the Delicate Daisy stamp set which I showed you yesterday in my sneak Peek.

Recipe:

Paper: PTI Rustic White, K&Company Classic K McKenna, moss colored recycled cs, Bazzill light green textured cs

Stamps: Delicate Daisy ISC

Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, SU Mellow Moss

Accessories: Nesties Labels 1, Fleur De Lis Pendant die, Foam Tape, Watercolor Pencils, blender pen, Recollections golden half pearls, Lavender satin ribbon

Pretty simple cards, but I think that they have so much impact as I focused on those wonderful images.

Connie Joanne Julie Kathy Wendy

These girls have some awesome creations in store for ya. Well, this is it for me for right now. My oldest has Parent/Teacher conferences today, so they will only have a half day today.

Friday, February 5, 2010

Hi there on this sunny Friday....

my stamping friends!!! Thanks so much for all of the Birthday wishes I received since Tuesday. It was a real quiet day. I went out and about with my 4 y.o. to score on some awesome things at Michael's and Dollar Tree. Love this place to get activities supplies for the girls without feeling too guilty I spent too much money ;D you know!!

Anyhow, I have a card to share with you all today. It's yet another real simple one, but you will see that the effect is WOW!!!

A few weeks back I was one of those people that thought I had to have the Cuttlebug Romance Bundle they were selling over at HSN, well, to say the least, I only used one folder out of all of them. I believe it is called Meadow Lark. I also got some use out of my Cricut Expression as the frame I made for the scripture was cut with a flower frame that is on the Accent Essentials cartridge. I first cut 2 frames with 1/4" size difference and then embossed it with the Textile embossing folder to give it a little more dimension. Have a look and see for yourself

To everything.......

Recipe:
Paper: PTI Kraft, some dark purple and lavender cs (I believe it is Recollections {?})

Ink: SU Lovely Lilac

Stamp: ODBD Scripture Collection 1 Ecclesiastes 3:1

Accessories: Cricut Expresion and the Accent Essentials cartridge. Frames cut at 3.5" and 3.25 " Cuttlebug EF Meadow Lark and Textile, clear Rhinestones by Studio 18, Prima Willow leaves and a handmade paper flower using my scalloped circle punch. Tim Holtz Distressing Tool

As you can see in the photo the BG dark purple panel is embossing with the Meadow Lark EF. The scalloped circle punch flower has 10 layers and LOTS of dimension. This is not a card you want to mail, well, you could, but you would probably use a box the size of the smallest Flat Rate box available :D:D. I'd say the flower sticks out like 1/2" to 3/4 ". Oh, almost forgot, the edges of the dark purple panel were distressed using my Tim Holtz Distressing Tool.

What do you think? I was going to add some yummy ribbon, but it would have been too much.

Well, this is it for me for right now. Make sure to leave me some love to get a chance to win the Birthday/Blogoversary candy I am offering here .

Tomorrow is also a big day. Make sure you come visit me tomorrow as we start our brand NEW Shining the Light Challenge over at ODBD. Shhh.....gonna tell you a secret...you'll have the chance of winning a gift certificate and more, so come on back tomorrow. I'll be waiting for you right here with my creation, hehe!!

Hugs,
