A very bright CAS.......

Hi and happy Monday my friends. I know I have a very strange name for my post today, but I just did not know what else to call it, but what it is ;D. I bought this fun little bird stamp quite some time ago and only have used it once, so I've decided to ink it up. Since I had lots of fun the other day using my chalks with the blender pen I did just that, used those chalks again :D:D.

The image was stamped in VersaFine Black Onyx on watercolor paper (actually they are ATC sized sheets I bought pre-cut and they are just the right size). As this bird came out kind of bright I went with all bright colors for the layers of the card and used some textured cs from a DVWV pad. My card base is PTI white and as the title already says pretty CAS (Clean And Simple). I know I very rarely do that, so I was done in like 10 minutes ;D. To give this CAS card just a little pep, I added some pink and white striped grosgrain ribbon and a small flower charm. TaDa all done!

See for yourself

Recipe:
Paper: PTI white, DCWV textured paper pad

Stamp: little bird with flower

Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black,

Accessories: pink/white striped grosgrain ribbon, silver flower charm from Mike's Wedding section
Pearlescent Chalks, Blender Pen, foam tape

Did you all have to go and get your sunglasses? I know this card is so outside of my usual style, but it was kind of fun.

This it it for me.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Maya Mist everywhere....

Hi all, I have two cards for you all today. But let me tell you what not to do when you are using Maya Mist or any other glimmer or spritz stuff. All right, I thought I was doing a good thing and putting a large piece of paper on my work table before I was getting ready to decorate some plain chipboard pieces with this glamorous stuff called Maya Mist. The first piece went pretty well and I was all proud of myself but wait, that was only the first piece. I had a bird and a wing to spritz. So the wing went well and as I put the small bottle of mist down to check the results of my wing out I knocked it over and had to pick it back up, but like a gopher I did not check if the little spray opening was pointed in the right direction and yes, you've guessed right, I pushed the bottle and the Avocado Metallic Maya Mist was all over everything. I mean over DP, some copies of projects I planned on making, a punch, some ribbon, you name it, it had mist all over it. I started cleaning up right away and was able to wipe a bunch of things off, but the DP and copies and ribbon where not to save. It is actually funny as I was warned that this stuff gets everywhere. Believe me, next time I use this stuff I will do it outside,LOL!! But let me show you the card that I made. It actually came out all right. Pretty CLEAN AND SIMPLE, but the effect of the Mist is stunning. I wish my camera would have captured that shimmer a bit better.

Most of the ingredients are from the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Kit for October.

The DP is 6x6 so it is perfect for my favorite size cards. The buttery colored strip on the front is textures cs and it is yummy. The Flower is not from the kit, but the bird is and is by Maya Road. In this Kit came an entire package of Maya Road chipboard birds and 2 bird cages, totally fun and they are plain. So when I saw that there was also a small spritz bottle of Avocado Metallic Maya Mist in it and after I saw the projects done by the Baker's Dozen, I knew I had to try that stuff out ;D.

Here is the Recipe for the card:

Paper: PTI Kraft, buttery yellow textured paper, DP from the Key Ingredients Kit

Stamp: Thank you for being there by Inkadinkado

Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Chalk Box Chestnut Roan for the sponging

Accessories: Maya Road chipboard bird from the Kit, Avocado Metallic Maya Mist also from the Kit, black Kaiser half pearl as the eye on the bird, Prima Flower from my stash, 3D-dots.

Taylor has these cool Kits all nicely put together with all the perfect coordinating material you'll need for some fun cards or other projects. I had a subscription for 3 month which cost $ 22.95 per month and the best part, you are getting charged around the 15th of the month and not all in advance which I really like. My 3 month subscription is up, but I will subscribe for the 6 months now. I love the quality of the papers and the fact that it is all ready for you. Would make a nice gift as well. You can read more about it here Key Ingredients Kit at Taylored Expressions

For my second card I played around with my chalks and my blender pen and an Whiff of Joy image I've had for a while, but really never inked up.

Recipe:
Paper: PTI White, DCWV pink textured cs, Basic Grey Urban Prairie

Stamp: Whiff of Joy (the name of this stamp was not on the package but it says an Elisabeth Bell image)

Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black, pink Chalk ink

Accessories: Blender Pen, Pearlescent Chalks, Prima Hydrangeas from the Strawberry Collection, silver butterfly charm from Walmart, pink sheer ribbon from my stash ( I still have from Okinawa, Japan ;D), half pearls, silver spacer beads, violet glitter pen, Sakura Gel roller, 3D dots

I could not really get the shimmer of the chalks captured with my camera, but IRL it is pretty shimmery. The Sakura Gel roller was used on the swirl on the bottom of her jeans and the Violet glitter pen was used for the flowers in the basket, the flower on her jeans and her headband and bow on her shirt. It's a girlie card for sure, but I think I'll give this card to my 8 y.o. who has been writing and outstanding book report over her Fall break. :D You know, you've got to keep encourage them.

Well, that is it. I am sorry for the long post, but I just had to tell you all about my big mistake with this Maya Mist spray, LOL!!!

Have a wonderful weekend and thank you so very much for stopping by.

Come to me........

Yep, that is the name of my post for today. Yesterday, as I was cleaning the house I was saying to myself, that I had not made a masculine card in a few weeks. Well, after I put my Dyson away and collected all of the trash from my girls rooms trash baskets, I sat down and made a masculine card.

For the base I used PTI Kraft and put a layer of some dotted paper from the DCWV mat stack La Creme on it. This paper truly looks like it is a washed out black with Kraft dots, totally cool ;D. Since masculine in my eyes is not very many embellishments, I simply wrapped some Jute Twine around the second layer. For my sentiment I chose a stamp from Verve. I love these stamps, especially this one as it has a masculine feel to it. So I cut 2 rectangles with my Nesties Classic Rectangles Large dies, sponged the first one with some VersaFine Onyx Black on the edges and stamped the Matthews 11:28 verse unto the second rectangle in the same ink. It was a little plain looking so I've decided to get out some Karen Foster brads I had bought way too long ago, but I am sure you all know that feeling, right? These cool brads look like small screws and have an antique pewter finish, just the right color for the papers. To attach the brads I used my 1/16" punch(the really tiny one) to make the holes, as the brads are pretty close to the edge I had to cut the prongs down a bit, but that was easy using my floral wire cutters. As I was assembling all of that it came to mind that I had a pewter finish cross somewhere in my stash, so I went and got it and tied it on with some more twine.

Viola, finished was a real simple masculine card.

Have a look

What do you think? Pretty simple, I know, but I wanted to keep it clean as I had a brother in church at mind togive it to. See, sometimes when you are standing in prayer line at church God puts special people on your heart and this time it was no different, there is this cute little couple who has joined the church a while back, but they have not been attending service that often. For the last few weeks they have been in service and I felt that something was going on. So, to make a long story short and not to get into all of the little details I made this card and told my hubby, yep, I told him that this family was on my mind and that I really would appreciate if he would write some encouraging words into this card and give it to this man. We all know that man try not to show too much of their feelings and keep things to themselves, but in the deep storms of live, even those men need a little encouragement and can't really hide everything, right? So, I hope he will like this card I made and the encouraging words my hubby is going to write ;D.

Well, this is it for right now. I have my fingers itching to touch some ink, but I have some errands to run. So, I will see you all later.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Good Tuesday afternoon.....

my friends! I have a card for you all today!!! Yep, I was able to sit down and make a card, yeah!!! :D:D:D

I tell you, nothing is better than getting some Therapy, it feels so good. Sorry, I am just a happy person today.

For today's creation I used some yummy papers from my Key Ingredients Kit from Taylored Expressions I received in September. I know it is October already, but I love the papers in this kit and just could not contain myself,LOL!.

Todays card is another scripture card, which is always a good thing, right?

Have a look at my Romans 8:28 card

And we know......

Recipe:
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, DP + textured cs from the Key Ingredients Kit from Taylored Expressions

Stamp: Romans 8:28 from ODBD Scripture Collection 1

Inks: VersaColor Sand Beige, SU Close To Cocoa

Accessories: Nesties Labels 4, chocolate satin ribbon from my stash, Prima Hydrangeas from the "Got Flowers" Collection, antique copper brad from Joann's, handmade stick pin with glass beads in shades of brown, Kaiser Chocolate half pearls, 3D foam dots, 3D glue dot

As you can see a pretty simple card, but the scripture is so powerful that nothing much is needed for this card.

Well, this is it for today. Thanks so much for taking the time and stopping by. I hope to see you all back soon.

Hello on this wonderful....

Monday!!! Yeah, my oldest is back in school andI have some quiet time in the morning now!! She actually was all excited to go back to school and did not fuss when she had to get up at 6 AM :D.

So, since I hurried and did all of my morning chores early today I was able to sneak in some play time after I read my Blogger updates and e-mails. I have never participated in the CCEE challenge, but my German bud Silke is the person of honor today, so I've decided I go ahead and try out this challenge. Tosh was in charge today and she asked to make a square card, being true to Silke's style and leave a lot of white space and use the faux silk technique. Oh, the challenge also said to use a girl on the card, but somehow I've missed that, so I guess I didn't totally obey the rules :C.

If you care to find out more about this challenge head on over to CCEE.

I have to tell you, I had never ever tried this technique and was kind of intimidated at first, but I guess it turned out all right.

Have a look at my

"Thank you for being my friend" card

Recipe:
Paper: PTI White

Stamps: SU Embrace Life, ODBD Friendship

Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black, pink chalk ink

Accessories: Nesties Megabilities curved rectangles, Cuttlebug embossing folder leafy branch, Scor-Pal, Recollections silver half pearls, Twinkling H2O's in pink crocus, Tissue Paper, Tombow glue, pink velvet ribbon, pink crystals

What do think? I hope they overlook the fact that I forgot the girl, but at least I used pink, so it is a girly card, right? :D:D I used those Twinkling H2O's to add the sparkle for the "sparklegirl" my camera just did not pick it up. IRL the card, well the flowers do SPARKLE :D:D

Well, this is it for me for now, I have to go over my DD's homework and figure out what I'll cook for dinner.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I love reading the comments you guys leave me. They sure keep me going.

Have a wonderful evening.

TGIF!!!!

Yeah, it is finally the weekend, only a few days before my DD has to go back to school after her 3 week break. Don't get me wrong, I love having my babies home, but they are always fighting, yikes, any mom's out there feel me? :D:D

Anyhow, today I was able to sit down and stamp while my babies watched a movie. Thank God for Disney Channel, LOL!!!

My card today is for the Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge over at SCS. I must say I am pretty proud of myself as I have not missed a month yet, and I sure don't plan on starting now. We are supposed to upload around the 9th of the month, but things were just not going that way for me, so I am just a little late, LOL!!!

Participating in this challenge has been nothing but a blessing, I tell you.

My card came together pretty fast as I knew I wanted to use some of this fabulous paper from K&Company I bought just yesterday at Joann's on sale!!! Gotta love a good sale and some yummy looking paper. ;D

Have a look at my

Fear not, for.........

Recipe:
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream and Kraft, K&Company Classic K Bellay DP pad

Stamp: ODBD Scripture Collection 1

Ink: SU Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Chalk Box Creamy Brown

Accessories: Nesties Labels 4, crystals from Studio18, crochet lace, MayaRoad stick pin (which I colored with an Adirondack pen in brown), Prima Hydrangeas from the Deep Woods Collection, Tim Holtz distressing tool, 3D foam dots, copper Ichtus charm

Well, what do you think? I know this card does not have lots of layers like I usually add, but I think that this card would actually fit in a regular 6x6 envelope. The card itself is 5.5x5.5" just love this size :D.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I sure hope I was able to inspire you with my post.

Hey y'all!!!

Wow, I can't believe I have another post for you all today :D:D!!!! Actually I have two projects I would like to share with you. For the first one I made a card for Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply # 108 challenge. I know I am behind, way behind, as # 109 is coming up tomorrow, but I made a card anyhow ;D. For this challenge Sharon asked to use Kraft and Black, well, not a combination I usually would choose, but I like the way my humble little card came out.

I started out with PTI Kraft and True Black. Since I wanted a little bit of pop, I decided to also use some striped paper from a DCWV pad which is called La Creme and my all time favorite. If you have not tried this paper yet, you are sure missing out ;D. I bought the 4x6 pad which makes it easy to use those gorgeous papers on A2 cards. To make a little of a different shaped card I rounded the bottom corners which I really don't do that often. I wonder why? Hmmm gotta think about that one,LOL!! For my sentiment I decided on using a scripture from ODBD's Scripture Collection 1, and what would be more fitting than using the new Nesties Labels 7 (the book) die? I wanted to keep it simple, so all I did here is scored the middle of the book stamped the scripture on it in VersaFine Onyx Black and sponged the edges with the same. I also added some large Recollections half pearls to all four corners and a Prima flower from the Artistry Collection. Very, very simple card for Sharon's Stamp Simply Challenge. If you care to find out more about this fun challenge Sharon comes up with every week head on over to her blog .

What do you think, does this card make a statement?

All right, I promised you 2 projects and you shall have 2 projects :D:D.

Several weeks ago I discovered the Stamping Sisters in Christ Blog Challenge and I was determined to participate as often as I possibly could. Sometimes life throws a few things in our way and we can't or don't get around to it, but this week I wanted to participate.

They had the following scripture for inspiration

SCRIPTURE

Our hostess this week is Kristine's sweet sister Kathy Winter. Kathy chose the scripture Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you..." (NIV)

The verse goes on to say, "...before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." This scripture is about the call of Jeremiah to become a prophet of God. He was chosen. God knew His plans for Jeremiah before he was even born.

Each of us is chosen by God, too, for a special purpose. He knows us intimately, and He wants us to know Him intimately. Each of us has special gifts and talents that we need to share with others. When we do this, we truly experience the heart of God. And what a tremendous feeling that is!

CHALLENGE

The challenge is to make a baby card or project, or a card for an expectant mother (or expectant parents)...perhaps even try your hand at a shaped card (see Kathy's sample below). A baby shower card would be perfectly fine, too. I think you get the idea!

(This section was copied from the Stamping Sisters in Christ Blog)

So, I came up with this idea to make a frame/picture. I bought this white frame at a local $ store I believe and simply added some DP in green and stamped a little frame which I had for ever from a stamp set from Paper Salon and is called Fancy Flourishes. To make it jump out a little more and since it is rather small I decided to stamp it in VersaMark and emboss it in white. I also wanted to stay close to the scripture used but did not have it, hmm what's a girl to do? I could have just generated it by computer, but that would have been a challenge as my printer does not like and heavier paper, it just does not pull it in, so I remembered I had this fun and tiny stamp set I bought over at Clear Dollar Stamps a while back and it had this sentiment in it "Children are a gift from God". The light came on and I just used it instead :D:D. Don't you just love it when things come together? Well, to make a long story short I took the tiny stamps and stamped it too in VersaMark and embossed it in white as well. To give the plain frame a little more interest I added some green and white Hydrangea petals which I held together by using a faux pearl brad. I adhered those flowers to the frame by using 3D glue dots. I also added a flourish which I cut using my Cricut Expression and a little button I had laying around.
