It's a new day...it's Saturday

and that means time for Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge # 27.

This week's Challenge:

Texture it!!

Add texture whether it be through embossing, your different embellishments (feathers, textured ribbon…) or distressing (roughing up the edges not just inking them).

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize , a $ 15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Thursday, September 2.

One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday. While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them.As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing 1 to 2 creations to spotlight for our Shining the Light Award. In order to qualify for this award, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by September 2 at 8 p.m. EST.

Would you like to see what I came up with? Oh, I had so much fun with this one...you all know I LOVE my embellishments the more the better, hehe. In my book the more embellishments the more texture you add to your card...you know those handmade flowers have lots of dimension, ribbon, lace, stick pins, Cuttlebug embossing....YEP, all of that adds texture have a look at

Are you ready for me to show you what I came up with? Well, I have actually 2 cards to show you ;D. See when we got our post together we realized that we had all chosen the same stamp set, but one of us, so I decided to make another one with a different stamp set ;D.

The Shabby Tea Room Challenge # 22

is what I have to share with you all tonight!! The Challenge at the Shabby Tea Room is "Reflections" and is coming from this awesome picture

Isn't this amazing?? Well, my wheels started spinning and I knew I had the perfect paper to use. It looks almost exactly like this stunning candle holder in the middle. So I knew I had to play.

Have a look and see for yourself ;D

Praying you'll soon be well

Recipe:

Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, True Black, K&Company Life's Journey

Stamps: ODBD Get Well

Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black

Accessories: beige crochet ribbon lace (awesome find at a local fabric by the pound store, for only 49 cents a yard ;D)Nylon butterfly, Making Memories Glitter Gem Frame, Prima black pearl flourish, flowers from a bouquet I bought at Michael's on sale for 75% off :D:D

What do you think? Does this little card look a little like the inspiration picture above? It was kind of hard catching the sparkle of the frame and the butterfly, but IRL it "reflects and sparkles" A LOT!!! :D:D

All right, this is it for me. Thanks for stopping by and I will see you all soon!!

Hugs,

Hello and Happy Thursday.......

my stamping friends!!! I have been on a roll ;D and I have a few more cards I would love to share with you. Since I've showed you some more masculine cards yesterday, I will switch gear again and show you some feminine ones today. Well, one of them is very feminine, the other is more Country !!

Joshua 1:3 is one of my all time favorite scriptures, it encourages me and gives me the needed fuel to make it through the week...sometimes the day. So, for my first card today I will share the card I created with this wonderful scripture

Be Strong and Courageous......

Recipe:

Paper: PTI Aqua Mist, White, Memory Box Frond

Stamps: ODBD Scripture Collection 3 Joshua 1:9

Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, ODBD Steel Blue

Accessories: Nesties Labels 6, ZVA Creative Soft Blue Pearl Flourish, small antique silver cross, Prima flowers, Recollections pearl center brad in blue, white crochet ribbon lace, hand dyed seam binding ( I used Glimmer Mist for it in the colors Patina, Iridescent Gold), handmade stick pin

That is number one, on to the second card, which is CAS and has a very Country felling to it, but you'll see why in a minute ;D

The blessing of the Lord.......

Recipe:
Paper: PTI Rustic Cream, Dark Chocolate, some DP from my stash (can't remember the name of it...sorry!)

Stamps: ODBD Harvest Blessings

Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Tim Holtz Distressing Ink Tea Dye

Accessories: Nesties Petite Ovals Large, Petite Scalloped Ovals Large, yellow/gold colored half pearls, Jute rock rack, May Arts Twill in natural, Tim Holtz Distressing Tool, Copics

So, what do you think about these two so very different cards?

I think I will send this sunflower card to my Mama. She has the most amazing sunflowers in her little (well, not really that little ;D) garden...so I believe she would enjoy this one.

All right, this is it for today, I have to get a move on it. I have to be at the school to pick up my youngest in 10 minutes...yikes.

Thanks so much for stopping by today...it truly puts a smile on my face to see who comes to see me and gets some inspiration out of my humble little cards. You are the BEST!!!

Hugs,

Happy Hump Day....

my stamping friends!!! Hope your week is going great so far. Mine has been semi busy and I was able to squeeze in some "Therapy Time" ;D. My DH has been telling me that all I make are "lady cards" and that I NEED to make some for the men as well. So, to make him happy ;D I made some "man cards"!!

I have several, so this post might be a little longer than usual :D!!

Let's start with my first one

Psalm 88:9

Recipe:

Paper: SU Brilliant Blue, SU Bordering Blue, Basic Grey Lime Rickey

Stamps: ODBD God's Hands

Ink: ODBD Steel Blue (that's what I stamped the hand with and did the distressing ;D), VersaFine Onyx Black

Accessories: Nesties Labels 3, Recollections silver half pearls, silver eyelets from my stash

So, what do you think? Is this a cool man card?

I really try not to use too feminine DP's and embellishments for "masculine" cards, so I thought to keep it minimal would be best ;D.

All right on to # 2.....

My soul finds rest.....Psalm 62:1-2

Recipe:

Paper: PTI Rustic Cream, Dark Chocolate, Basic Grey Offbeat

Stamps: Scripture Collection 4, Cross from the set He is Risen

Ink: SU Close to Cocoa (for the cross) and Memento Rich Cocoa (for the scripture)

Accessories: Nesties Large Octagons, brown grosgrain ribbon, 3 Basic Grey buttons, natural hemp cord

I just love it when things come together so easy ;D.

Moving on to my last masculine card for today

You are the Light.....Matthew 5:14,16

Recipe:

Paper: SU Certainly Celery, PTI White, Basic Grey Nook & Pantry

Stamps: ODBD Light of the World

Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, SU Certainly Celery

Accessories: Nesties Petite Ovals Large, white Twill ribbon (RAK from Patter...Thank You!!) white metal dots from Colorbok

That is it....what do you think? Those three cards are simple and easy to make. I just hope whomever my DH is giving them to, when the time comes, will like them as well.

This is it for me for right now, I'll have to run and get some things done before it is time to pick up my baby from Kindergarten.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope I was able to inspire you a little and get those creative juices flowing in you to make some masculine cards. I found that mostly every Designer Paper pack I have has at least a couple of papers in it that work great for more masculine cards.

I am sure we all have them and when we flip through them we keep on thinking..."what am I going to do with this paper?" The answer is right here....make it into a masculine card and some of those brads and eyelets you have not used in a while...they might just work great for those man cards we all need every now and then!!!

Have a fabulous and creative day my friends!!

Hugs and blessings,

We would love to collect your sketch and see what you create using it!

For all of the details about this challenge head on over to the ODBD Blog to read more.

Here is what I came up with. I don't have my sketches in a book or anything, I just have them in my head and this is the one I most often use.

If you remain in me.......

Recipe:

Paper: PTI Rustic White, Dark Chocolate, Kraft, Basic Grey Nook&Pantry

Stamps: ODBD Scripture Collection 4 John 15:7

Inks: Memento Rich Cocoa, Tim Holtz Distressing Ink Vintage Photo, Antique Linen

Accessories: Nesties Standard Circles Large, Standard Scalloped Circles Large, ZVA Creative Taupe Pearl Flourish, MayArts brown crochet lace, ivory loop trim, paper roses (not Prima..got them from http://www.artfire.com/ and they are awesome!!!), gold colored filigree butterfly from http://www.firemountaingems.com/ , Tim Holtz Distressing Tool

I guess the only thing I frequently change is the way I use the ribbon...sometimes it is simple like others I use a yummy ribbon and tie a big bow...I guess it depends on what mood I am in.

What do you think? Is this a sketch you would use? I sure hope so as it is simple as can be ;D;D.

Would you love to get some more sketch ideas? Well, we can help you there, as some more of my design sisters have played along with Betty this week. Check out

Angie

Fran

and off course Betty

and most importantly I am looking forward to see what you will be coming up with...you are playing along, right? I sure hope so and I will make sure I get myself a little sketch book and who knows, I might just use your go to sketch right here pretty soon ;D;D;D!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
